May 13, 2020 5:00 pm Health Policy Georgia Executive Order Leaves Questions About Civil Immunity for Private Practice Physicians During the Pandemic Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp yesterday issued a broad-reaching executive order purporting to expand the definition of which healthcare providers are engaged in emergency management activity and therefore have civil immunity during the declared pandemic. Unfortunately, the order is not clear about whether that immunity extends to private practicing physicians and their practices. CDC guidance for SARS-CoV-2 infection may, or may not, be adopted by state and local health departments to respond to rapidly changing local circumstances.
