Some practices have a simple “call 911” policy, while others maintain a fully stocked crash cart. Factors such as your specialty, the types of procedures performed in your office, and your proximity to a hospital will play a part in the level of emergency response capability you maintain. Regardless of the level of emergency response you provide, it is imperative that you have a written policy and procedure on emergencies and that each staff member be trained on his or her role in the emergency response.
