Curi kicked off our Health Equity initiative earlier this year, with the goal of supporting our member practices in reducing the impact of health disparities on their patients.
We began in February with a webinar titled “How Addressing Racial Health Disparities Can Help Providers Improve Care Delivery.” Presented by Prof. Ndidiamaka Amutah-Onukagha of Tufts University School of Medicine, the session offered a primer on how systemic healthcare problems in the U.S. present barriers for patients of color, and it offered Curi member practices tangible guidance on how to combat those problems and improve patient care. A recording of the webinar is available here.
Earlier this month, we held the second webinar in the series: “Creating an Inclusive Workplace in Healthcare,” presented by Susie Silver of The Diversity Movement. This session helped providers and practice leaders learn about the definitions of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI); the business case for DEI; how to identify and mitigate unconscious bias; and how to use language to foster inclusion. You can find a recording of that webinar here.
We’ve also created a resource page on our website for health equity information, including guidance on understanding the impact of health disparities and how to take action to reduce their impact. We encourage all of our members to take part in this valuable initiative.
