Meet the Curi Capital Team: Spotlight on Erin Rogers, Associate Advisor

By: Curi Editorial Team
4 Minute Read
*Erin Rogers was an Associate Advisor at the time of this interview. She was promoted to Wealth Advisor in Oct. 2021.

At Curi Capital, it’s our mission to help clients build true wealth, however they define it. Our team brings the knowledge, experience, and passion to help clients meet their goals through a wide range of financial services and solutions—and we’d love for you to meet them.

Each month, we will engage a different member of the Curi Capital team to learn more about their experiences, their insights, and their perspectives, while providing an opportunity for you to get to know them on a more personal level.

This month, we sat down with Erin Rogers, an Associate Advisor for the firm, to discuss the origins of her passion for advising, the motivation to earn her Certified Student Loan Professional (CSLP®) designation, and where she finds joy outside of work.

Could you tell us about your role with Curi Capital and what your experience has been like so far?

As an *Associate Advisor, I work closely with the advisors on our team as well as Frances Cronlund, our Senior Director of Wealth Planning. Initially, I was a Client Service Associate for the firm but recently moved into a more planning-focused role. I help collect client data, run financial plans, onboard clients, and serve as a general relationship manager for both planning and service requests. In the past year, we have met and onboarded many new clients, even in this virtual time—turning the challenges of the pandemic into growth for the firm.

My dad is a physician, so the mission of Curi and Curi Capital and the services we provide to the physician community drew me to the firm. Growing up around my dad and his colleagues gives me a personal drive to help physicians in every aspect of their lives and working for Curi Capital allows me to do so every day.

What led you to your career?

I was a History major at Bucknell University, so my studies primarily consisted of the liberal arts. While studying abroad in London I was searching for a summer internship when I happened upon an opportunity at Merrill Lynch in NYC. I got to live in New York and work in the World Financial Center, which was a wonderful experience. I truly enjoyed working with people all day and learning about their goals, their children, where they’re from, and what retirement looks like for them. The conversational nature of the work drew me in immediately.

What did you do in your career before joining the Curi Capital team?

After graduation, I worked at a small brokerage firm in Washington, D.C., and earned my initial licenses during that time. Most of my career was spent at Fidelity Investments in D.C. as a Relationship Manager with a handful of advisors on operations and client service. It was a great company to dip my toes into the industry, and I received my CFP® during that time. With each job, I’ve learned more, earned more certifications, and built upon my experience.

What is your vision or goals for the firm?

Personally, I look forward to becoming an advisor with my own book of clients in the future. For the firm, I want us to become a household name. As the firm continues to expand geographically, I’m eager to see us gain more recognition as a leader in financial services for physicians specifically.

What sets Curi Capital apart from other firms?

We all have experience from other firms and larger institutions, creating a well-rounded team with various areas of expertise. We know what works and what doesn’t and have put our heads together—from our most junior to our most senior team members—to figure out how we are going to do things in a way that best serves our clients. Our team really values different perspectives to identify the best path forward. If you have a question about something, there is usually a go-to person and everyone is willing to collaborate and help each other.

What inspired you to go after your CSLP® designation?

Frances encouraged me to investigate the Certified Student Loan Professional certification as a particularly pertinent area to the lives of physicians. There are so many questions about what to do with student loan debt—and I learned best practices and top methods for our clients to consider. Changing repayment schedules and different strategies for filing taxes are just two ways to try to reduce monthly payments, and I’m thrilled to be able to offer that knowledge and more to our clients as they navigate their student loans.

What are some of your interests or hobbies outside of work?

Since moving to Raleigh from Washington, D.C., I’ve loved spending time outdoors with my golden retriever; I appreciate how North Carolina has access to the beach and the mountains. My husband and I enjoy hiking and exploring trails in the area. I also love to cook and try local restaurants and breweries.
