CME Webinar: Safety, Professionalism, and Patient Satisfaction

Understanding how to consistently, professionally, and ethically address encounters with dissatisfied or aggressive patients is critical to the creation and preservation of a healthy and prosperous clinical environment. In addition, failing to successfully foster a culture of safety and professionalism within a medical practice is a contributing factor to physician burnout, putting both doctors and their patients at risk of adverse outcomes.

As part of our ongoing continuing medical education (CME) series, the Curi Risk Management team has developed a new webinar to teach physicians about the importance of professionalism as the foundation of safe, quality healthcare, as well as best practices to address behaviors that undermine the culture of safety. This webinar is led by James W. Pichert, PhD, Professor of Medical Education and Co-Founder of the Center for Patient and Professional Advocacy at Vanderbilt University. Dr. Pichert is an educational psychologist with longstanding research experience on promoting health professionals’ patient-related interactions.

During this educational webinar, participants can expect to learn the following:

1. How to identify components of a workplace safety assessment, including risk factors and areas for improvement.
2. The correlation between patient complaints, co-worker concerns, and physician burnout.
3. Strategies for addressing behaviors that undermine a culture of safety.
