Senior Business Analyst

The Role

We’re looking for an individual with strong communication and analytical skills to work in our Information Technology Department as a Senior Business Analyst. Reporting to the Director, Insurance Platforms, you will serve as a liaison between IT and stakeholder groups, managing the relationship and expectations of those stakeholders, as well as providing support. Primarily, you will guide the design and implementation of new and enhanced functionality for IT business systems. You will need to possess a strong balance of business and technical aptitude. Additionally, you will analyze business needs cross-functionally and make recommendations for the overall benefit of the organization.

In this role, you will work very closely with other members of the IT Insurance Platforms team, as well as individuals and other teams across the entire IT organization. You will work within an agile framework which requires creativity and resourcefulness to accomplish goals and objectives, and apply concepts, plans, and strategies to provide value to stakeholders.


  • Develop and manage stakeholder expectations (stakeholders comprise a diverse group – including executives, managers, and subject matter experts)
  • Manage dependencies across IT teams and stakeholder groups
  • Continuously improve and support systems, applications, and business processes
  • Facilitate product upgrades and coordinate user testing and installation
  • Ensure ongoing quality of business systems
  • Manage the analysis and implementation of new initiatives
  • Function as a technical contact and a liaison with vendors
  • Provide courteous and responsive service
  • Conduct training and presentations as needed


  • Strong organization, communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Working knowledge of relational database concepts and table structures
  • Proven ability to lead small to mid-sized projects
  • Demonstrated initiative, perseverance, and self-motivation
  • Application of strong technical knowledge
  • A positive attitude with a service delivery mentality
  • Enthusiasm for learning new software tools/applications (both off-the-shelf and internally developed)
  • A strong interest in creative problem solving and the application of emerging technological standards
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively 


Required Education and Experience

  • 10 years of experience as a business analyst, consultant, or related role, providing direct customer support of IT applications
  • Bachelor’s degree or significant relevant experience

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Insurance industry/administrative systems experience
  • SQL experience
