The Role

We’re looking for a highly organized individual to join our Underwriting department as a Credentialing Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for servicing medical malpractice insurance customers by verifying current and past insurance coverage, providing claims history reports, and maintaining quality customer service to both internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

  • Process requests for claims histories, ensuring compliance with company requirements
  • Respond to credentialing inquiries from healthcare and other third-party organizations
  • Interface with internal and external customers on day-to-day credentialing issues as they may arise
  • Manage mass distribution of Certificates of Insurance (COI) to designated hospitals in a timely fashion
  • Use OnBase Credentialing Workflow and eOasis database to perform queries, run reports, and generate documents
  • Index and electronically file all transactions and correspondence into OnBase in a timely and accurate manner
  • Participate in other department responsibilities, including assigned coverage at reception desk and mail
  • May be crossed trained with Underwriting Assistant to provide additional backup when needed

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma
  • Minimum of 2 years of customer service experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of data entry experience in the insurance industry
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Education and Experience

  • 2 years of customer service experience in the insurance industry
  • 2 years of data entry experience in the medical professional liability insurance industry
  • Experience working in a paperless office environment
