Credentialing Specialist

The Role

We’re looking for a detail-oriented individual with excellent verbal and written communications skills to work in our Underwriting Department as a Credentialing Specialist. Reporting to the Director of Underwriting, you will be responsible for servicing medical malpractice insurance customers by verifying current and past insurance coverage, providing claims history reports, and maintaining quality customer service to both internal and external customers.


  • Process requests for claims histories, ensuring compliance with company requirements
  • Respond to credentialing inquiries from healthcare and other third-party organizations
  • Interface with internal and external customers on day-to-day credentialing issues as they arise
  • Manage mass distribution of Certificates of Insurance (COI) to designated hospitals in a timely fashion
  • Utilize OnBase Credentialing Workflow and eOasis database to perform queries, run reports, and generate documents
  • Index and electronically file all transactions and correspondence into OnBase in a timely and accurate manner
  • Participate in other department responsibilities to include assigned coverage at Reception Desk and Mail
  • May be crossed-trained with Underwriting Assistant to provide additional backup when needed

Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma
  • Minimum of two years of customer service experience
  • Minimum of two years of data entry experience in a professional work environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience working in a paperless office environment

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Two years of customer service experience in the insurance industry
  • Two years of data entry experience in the medical professional liability insurance industry
  • Minimum of two years of data entry experience in the insurance industry
