The Role

We’re looking for a dynamic team player to join our Claims Department as a Claims Examiner/Attorney. In this role, you will help us coordinate the defense of our insured physicians.

Responsibilities

  • Review medical records
  • Recommend defense strategy and estimate potential damages
  • Assign and monitor defense counsel
  • Establish reserves as appropriate
  • Negotiate settlements or execute denials as advisable
  • Record relevant claims data in computer system
  • Attend trials, mediations, and first-suit meetings
  • Attend and participate in Claims Review Committee meetings

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or JD with 1 to 3 years of claims experience (bodily injury claims experience a plus) and/or medical malpractice defense
  • Must obtain applicable adjusters license(s) by state within three months of start date

Preferred Education and Experience

  • 3-5 years of medical malpractice claims and/or medical malpractice defense experience
