Account Services Coordinator

The Role

We’re looking for a motivated individual with excellent customer service skills to work in our Employee Benefits Department as an Account Services Coordinator. Reporting to the Director of Captive Services (Employee Benefits), you will be responsible for supporting the North Carolina Medical Society (NCMS) Benefit Plan in a variety of roles. The primary function of the Account Services Coordinator (Employee Benefits) position is the management of monthly group renewals for the NCMS Plan. Renewal management includes the creation of renewal packages, distribution of materials, vendor coordination for implementation as well as end-to-end oversight of recurring renewal projects.

In addition to group renewal projects, you will provide ongoing support to groups participating in the NCMS Plan. Group level support includes answering complex benefit questions, addressing urgent member escalations, completing requests for reports and data, and assistance with administrative updates.

The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of benefits (health, dental, life, and ancillary plans) as well as experience in aspects of administrative support regarding insurance policy information. Additional experience in areas such as project management, vendor management and account management are strongly desired.


  • Own coordination and execution of all monthly benefit plan renewals for groups participating in the NCMS Plan
  • Manage all essential tasks for recurring group policy renewals, including all required forms and documentation, enrollment processing, and data validation
  • Serve as liaison to NCMS Plan groups for ongoing support services such as renewal process guidance, member escalations, billing inquiries, requests for information, and benefit plan questions
  • Partner closely with Sr. Account Service Representative on third-party vendor management
  • Manage ongoing renewal process, escalated support issues, ad hoc requests, and member escalations
  • Collaborate closely with a variety of key stakeholders including Group Administrators, Sales Consultants, Brokers, Account Managers, and Underwriters
  • Provide additional support to Curi’s Health Promotion and Well-Being Manager
  • Function as internal support resource for the annual renewal of the NCMS Plan
  • Assist with auditing plan design requirements, updated plan materials, and renewal package design
  • Develop, maintain, and apply knowledge of insurance programs, policies, and agency procedures
  • Aid in the coordination of annual meetings with the NCMS Plan Member Advisory Council, including preparing meeting materials, distributing invitations, and tracking engagement
  • May be asked to join on-site support opportunities for open enrollment, wellness engagements, and other education or enrollment support situations


  • Benefit knowledge is desired with knowledge of health, dental, life, HSA, ancillary, COBRA
  • Experience in vendor management and project management
  • Capable of performing benefit education and training, addressing complex benefit questions, and supporting urgent escalations pertaining to access to care
  • Excellent customer service skills, including strong written and verbal communication
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with strong interpersonal skills
  • Must be able work independently with the capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience in Microsoft products, with emphasis on MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel with knowledge of pivot tables strongly desired
  • Experience with account management applications (i.e., Benefit Point)


Required Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma
  • 3 years’ experience in a professional work environment

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3+ years of relevant experience working with Benefits and/or in an HR capacity
