April 13, 2021 12:46 pm CDC and FDA Recommend Pausing Administration of Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 Vaccine In a joint statement released Tuesday, the CDC and FDA recommended pausing delivery of Johnson & Johnson’s COVID-19 vaccine while those agencies review data about a small number of blood clots seen in patients who received the vaccine. The pause is intended in part to enable healthcare providers to learn more about the potential for these adverse events and plan to respond to any they may see. Providers are asked to report any adverse events to the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System. The CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices will meet Wednesday to further review these cases and consider their possible significance.
